The FN breeding value ratings in 2004 showed only black and white: Conterno Grande belongs nationwide to the best jumping pedigree. This large-framed Contender son, from Seiferts own breeding program, began an exemplary career in jumping: he began as reserve winner of the Oldenburg stallion approvals in 1997, he then went on to complete his stallion performance testing in Adelheidsdorf in 1999, where he had especially high notes for jumping. In 2000 he was qualified under Joachim Heyer for the Bundeschampionat for German jumping horses, where he finished fifth overall with great critical acclaim from the international press. In 2001 he was able to top his already big time success: with the exemplary ride in the qualifications in Warendorf he missed the win for the six-year-old jumping horses by a hundredth of a second. In the start of the 2003 season the "Contender-Specialist" Marco Kutscher (European Champion) took Conterno Grande under his wing. To follow was a win in his first S competition in the Youngster Tour. At the CHIO Aachen in 2003 the pair was honored as the most successful pair in the Youngster Tour. The talented stallion is now under the seat of Philipp Weishaupt. They began their career together with a win in the Team ratings from the Riders Tour 2004, in Team-S*** in Bremen and following placings in Helsinki, Oslo, Milan and Paris-Bercy.
Conterno Grande combines the fascinating basic gaits with outstanding jumping ability making him typical of his sire Contender. The mother Grannuschka is the full sister to the successfully bred, sporty Gio Granno/Franke Sloothaak. In 1998 this mare gave birth to the internationally successful premium stallion, Couleur Rubin. Grannus, Ramino, and Volturno all played a roll in national and international sport and clearly passed on their performance abilites to the later generations. Conterno Grande also comes from the line of the successful international three-day-eventing mare Chica (breeding name Rudilore II), ridden by Wolfgang Mengers. From this pedigree is also the liscenced and Grand Prix stallion Tantris, who is successful in the international dressage. The eldest offspring from Conterno Grande have already shown much success as winners in young horse jumping tests.
